Your First Session

How Much Will My First Session Cost?

Your first session is completely free.

Where and When Should I Turn Up?

There are no starter sessions because complete beginners are always welcome.

Our sessions are held at:

Energy Base Gym (downstairs)
University of London Union (ULU)
Malet Street
WC1E 7HY (Google Maps)

and we train at:

Wednesday: 20:00 – 22:00 and
Sunday: 16:00 – 19:00.

If you arrive approximately 10-15 minutes before the session starts, you should find some of us gathering near the drinks machines one floor down. Come over and say hello to us.

What Should I Wear?

For your first few sessions, you should wear loose clothing (such as a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt) and make sure you remove any chains, rings, etc.

What If I Have Never Practised A Martial Art Before?

No problem! Beginners are always welcome. Many of us came to Jitsu with little or no prior experience of self defence or martial arts. We all remember that it is a little bit nerve racking to step onto the mat for the first time but that doesn’t last long.

…And What If I’m Not Very Fit?

No problem! The instructor will say hello to you before you begin training and you can discuss your fitness levels and any previous injuries at that point. The aim is to ensure that each person on the mat should be stretched a bit according to their experience, fitness and ability. Regular Jitsu training should quickly start to improve your fitness.

If you require any further help or information, please don’t hesitate to contact the committee.

We look forward to seeing you.

Once you have attended your first session you may want to find out a bit more about what is involved in continuing training.
