ULU Jitsu

Atemi Nationals is the first National event of the Jitsu calendar. It’s a 2 day event, with training, competitions and an exclusive social venue on Saturday evening.

Held on the 13th- 14th November, the Atemi Nationals are at the heart of what we do, beginners can compete in a safe and controlled environment, whilst the Sunday sees a fantastic display of skill by all instructors in the open competition. The competition is complemented by 2 mornings of instruction from the Foundation most senior teachers.

This year’s nationals are held in Sheffield so if you want to get away from London for a weekend with others from the ULU Jitsu Club then here is your chance. Part of the expenses will be subsidized by the club.

On Saturday 30th October jitsukas from all over London are going to meet at Stamford street dojo and have some fun together as the London Regional Course is taking place there.

The course starts at 11.00, finishes at 17.00 and is taught by different senseis so it’s a great chance to see and try something slightly different than you are used to, as each sensei has his/her own way of teaching and style.

The London Regional Course is a great opportunity to meet jitsukas from all over  London and to discover how big the ‘jitsu family’ really is. You’ll make  new friends and learn a lot of new things. So if you have time you should definitely come;]

Not many things make me feel as relaxed and happy as a cold shower after three hours, Sunday session and  a nice chat with my fellow jitsukas in a pub nearby. This is one of the reasons why I love Sundays and always look forward to them.

But this Sunday 17th October I’m going love even more because we are having our first SOCIAL event! Our club is going  for a yummy, Thai meal to a cosy, local restaurant, which is just a few minutes walk from our dojo. Part of the bill will be subsidized by the club so don’t hesitate and come with us. The restaurant is booked for 6.30 so there will be enough time to get changed and to make yourself  pretty:]

Our first official Freshers Session took place on Wednesday 6th October and it must be  said that it was a great success. Not only did we see a lot of new faces on the mat but also, and more importantly, everyone seemed to be really  enjoing it. Our novices weren’t afraid to kiay nor to put on wrist lock number two:] So well done everyone!

It’s been a pleasure to meet and train with our new members and we can’t wait to see them again in their  new ’white pyjamas’.

If you weren’t able to visit one of our sessions yet and would really like to do so; why don’t you come along on Sunday 10th October (2.00-5.00pm) or Wednesday 13th October 8.00-10.00pm). You’ll be more than welcome.

The First Freshers Session will be on Wednesday 6th October. The training takes place at the Energy Base- gym in the basement of ULU building, Malet Street and starts at 8.00pm. Usually, it’s better to arrive a bit earlier so you have time to get changed.

All you need to bring  with you is some loose clothing such as T-shirt  and a pair of tracksuit bottoms to change into and a bottle of water. Don’t worry if you’ve never done martial art before, the club is opened to everyone all year round and beginners are more than welcome:]
